Not all heroes wear capes…some wear high visibility vests while holding stop signs!

Crossing Guards are community heroes that play an essential role in the safety of our children and community. Walking, wheeling or cycling to school is a healthy activity and is good for our planet. The Township is currently hiring friendly, reliable adults for regular or stand-by shifts who are community-minded to make the commute to school safe, healthy and friendly.

Besides being recognized as a community hero, working as a Crossing Guard has many perks, such as:

  • Getting to know your community and neighbours;
  • Becoming a recognizable, trusted member of the neighbourhood by children and parents a-like;
  • Flexible, part-time hours; and,
  • Job sharing.

Whether you are a stay-at-home-parent or retired and looking for something to do, becoming a crossing guard is a great way to get involved in the community. It allows you to take pride in your work and most importantly, makes a real difference.
