Canada Day festivities, cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID restrictions and regulations, are back this year with a bang!

The Township of Uxbridge will celebrate Canada Day on July 1st with fireworks in Elgin Park. The 2022 event has been scaled back to focus solely on fireworks. “When we started planning the event many months ago, we were unsure what type of events would be permitted with COVID”, says Committee Chair Robin Coombs. “We decided to focus just on fireworks to keep it simple. The benefit is that families can have fun together spending Canada Day with their families and friends, and then join us in Elgin Park to cap of their day with fireworks. I promise you won’t be disappointed with the display!"

The fireworks will take place at dusk. Gates to Elgin Park will open at 8:00pm. The event is free, but volunteers will be accepting donations at the gates for the Lions Accessible Playground. Parking is available via the Elgin Park Drive gate only. There is no parking permitted near the bandshell near the Main St. entrance. Pedestrians are asked to avoid entering via the Main St. gate near dusk because falling fireworks pose a hazard in that area. Pedestrians arriving late will be rerouted to the Water St. gate for their safety.
