Committee Highlights for January 16, 2023

• Township 2023 Financial Audit Process Finalized
  The Township Auditor presented the financial Audit Service Plan to the General Purpose and Administration Committee of Council. The audit scope includes the Consolidated Financial Statements of the Township, the BIA, the Library Board and Township-managed Trust Funds.

• Federal Funding Support to Create Affordable Housing
  Pickering-Uxbridge Member of Parliament Jennifer O’Connell spoke to details about the federal National Housing Strategy.

• Repairs and Improvements Proposed For Skate and Pump Park
  An inspection report recommended some repairs and general maintenance for the Skate Park and the Pump Park. The total cost of the repairs is estimated to be $175,000. Committee received the report and asked staff to include a plan for the repairs as part of the budget discussions.

• Township Updates Fees for 2023-2024
  Staff proposed 2023-2024 fee schedules. Committee voted to approve the fee schedules for all departments except a portion of the  Administration-Clerk’s report which was tabled for further discussion.

• Local Representation Sought for Transit Committee
  The Region of Durham Transit Advisory Committee is looking for a representative from the Township of Uxbridge to advise on public transit matters. Committee received the Terms of Reference for the Transit Committee. Interested parties should contact the Clerk at info@Uxbridge.ca.

• Community Improvement Plan Update Proposed
  Staff proposed changes to the existing financial incentives programs related to Community Improvement Programs in the Downtown area. Committee approved the updated Application Manual and changes to the incentives program. The CIP program is a key tool to support redevelopment in the downtown core as part of revitalization efforts.
