Committee of Council highlights for June 6, 2022:

  • Storm Recovery Continues after May 21, 2022 Tornado
    Mayor Barton and members of Council thanked Township staff, police, first responders and those who responded after the storm and worked diligently in emergency response and storm recovery. Councillors praised the community spirit and neighbourly support to help those in need during recovery.
  • June is Bike Month
    The Uxbridge transportation committee is encouraging residents to cycle during Bike Month in June. A fun Bike Bingo contest for youth is underway until June 30th (no purchase necessary).
  • Discover Uxbridge Tourism Offers new programs and Reflects on Accomplishments
    A report from the Tourism Committee shared highlights of recent accomplishments and new programs. The Anne and Maud Experience opens June 12th and features local events and trolley tours to the Leaskdale Manse, Uxbridge Historic Centre, LMM Trail and other points of interest.
  • Additional Entrance Gate and Expanded Soccer Parking at Fields of Uxbridge
    Committee approved a report recommending a new entrance and expanded parking at the soccer fields at Fields of Uxbridge. The report also recommended adding a new fence for safety. The expense for the project is covered by a grant. 
  • Trail Sustainability Parking Revenues to Fund Improvements to Local Trailheads
    Committee received and endorsed a report recommending permit parking at local Trailheads. Parking revenues will be placed into a fund and used to maintain and build amenities at trail heads. Parking will be managed through the use of  a mobile application. Residents are required to register for a free parking permit . By-law will enforce parking infractions. The parking app will also be used to promote local businesses and public service messaging.
  • Uxpool to be Closed on Weekends During Summer
    Committee received a staff report indicating Uxpool will be closed on weekends during summer months due to an industry wide shortage of certified life guards. A recruitment campaign is underway to hire more staff. Uxpool is also offering certification training courses
