Committee of Council highlights for May 2, 2022:
  • Huck Finn Days Underway at Elgin Pond Until May 14
    The pond is stocked with trout, and activities for Huck Finn Days will run through May 14th. Prizes are awarded daily. Submit a photo to be eligible to win a daily prize.
  • Fire Department Holds Graduation for New Recruits
    A new class of Fire Department recruits graduated on Sunday, May 1st after a year of intensive training and studies.
  • Pool Repairs Approved for 2022
    A report outlining various repairs required to maintain Uxpool were approved by Committee of Council. Work includes repairs to exterior masonry, interior ceiling tile repair, and general equipment maintenance. Council also pre-approved funding to repair the pool filter system to be used if the filter begins to malfunction. The report stated that the Uxpool building is structurally sound but requires maintenance to prolong the use of the building.
  • Uxbridge Historical Centre Open for Season
    Staff at the Historical Centre have reopened to the public Wednesdays through Sundays from 10am-4pm.  A new exhibition titled “The Land We Know” is currently on display at the centre.
  • Communication Tower Proposed for Works Depot on Reg. Rd. 8
    Committee approved a recommendation from a staff report to enter into a lease agreement as part of a proposal to install a communication tower at the Public Works depot on Reg. Rd. 8.  The firm proposing the tower must undertake a public meeting process before a communication tower could be approved.
  • Township to Upgrade Washroom at Sandford Community Centre
    Committee approved a tender which will enable work on the washrooms at the Sandford Community Centre to proceed.
