Council Highlights for May 1, 2023

• Township Has Sold Former Fire Hall
  The former Fire Hall at 17 Bascom St. has been sold. The property was purchased from the Township for $1 million dollars. The Township will use the funds from the sale against the debenture obtained to pay for the new Fire Hall. Public parking is no longer permitted at the property.

• Durham Region Investing $14.4 Million to Rehabilitate Local Regional Roads
  Durham Region is starting two major road improvement projects which combined are budgeted to cost $14.4 million. Main St. (Reg. Rd 1) between Brock St. and Davis Dr. will be rehabilitated causing ongoing lane restrictions through the end of July. Lake Ridge Rd. (Reg. Rd 23) will be reconstructed between Myrtle Rd. and Chalk Lake Rd. and is closed to through traffic until the end of June.

• Township To Purchase Back-up Generator for Emergency Evacuation Centre
  Committee approved a staff recommendation to install a back-up generator at the Uxbridge Arena to support operating an emergency evacuation centre or a heating or cooling centre during extended community power outages.

• Township Proposes Updated Security System for Senior’s Centre
  Committee supported a staff recommendation to install a fob-based security system at the Senior’s Centre which would enhance security and allow greater flexibility for the Senior's Club to open and close the building for programming. The Senior’s Club is funding 80% of the cost of the system.

• Region Provides Review of 2022 Economic Development and Tourism Activity
  Committee received the 2022 Economic Development and Tourism Annual Report from the Region. The Report features several initiatives that benefitted communities within the Township of Uxbridge.
