Council highlights for July 11, 2022:

  • Interest in Community Gardens Grows
    Council heard a deputation from Robert Brown who proposed that a community garden be installed in an unused parkette at Main and Toronto St. Council referred the matter to staff for further consideration.
  • Township to Create New Recognition Program for Community Volunteers
    A staff report recommending a Volunteer Recognition program was approved by Council. The Township will bestow an award in 2022 to recognize an individual who has made long-term and outstanding contribution to the Community. Staff will develop a program and policy to further recognize other volunteers in the community.
  • Elgin Park Improvement Project Receives federal Funding
    The Township has received $747,750 from the Federal Government to support improvements to Elgin Park. The Lions have committed $123,000 towards a new universal playground. The Township has committed $126,250 to the project.
  • Durham Plowman’s Association to Host Plowing Match Locally
    The 2022 Annual Plowing Match will take place on Sept. 3rd on Medd Rd. in Port Perry.
  • Township Requests Disaster Recovery Assistance from Province
    In an effort to recover non-insured expenses related to clean-up from the tornado and Durecho storm, Council approved a plan to request Emergency funding support for the Municipality from the Province.
  • Fire Annual Report
    Council received the 2021 Annual Fire Report outlining activities for 2021. The Uxbridge Fire Department responded to 360 incidents through the year including 81 motor vehicle incidents, 10 trail rescues, 20 structure fires and 6 vehicle fires.
