Council highlights for June 13, 2022:

  • Whitchurch-Stouffville Legacy Fund Donates to Uxbridge Storm Relief Efforts
    Mayor Barton thanked Whitchurch-Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt and the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville Legacy Fund for providing $25,000 towards storm relief in Uxbridge. The money was deposited with the Uxbridge Rotary Club Foundation who is dispersing money to charitable organizations supporting those displaced by the storm.
  • Canada Day Fireworks a go at Elgin Park
    Council approved an exemption for fireworks for Canada Day. This year’s celebration will take place at Elgin Park and will feature fireworks but other activities are scaled back. Gates will open at 8pm on July 1.
  • Kin Club Citizen Wall of Recognition Moves Closer to Launch
    The Kinsmen Club of Uxbridge made a request for financial support to help launch their Citizen Wall of Recognition at the Arena. The community group proposes to recognize residents who do extraordinary things. The launch date for the new Wall of Recognition is set for Oct. 29th, 2022.
  • Springtide Music Festival To Host Event at Centennial Park
    Council approved a request by the Springtide Music Festival to host a concert on stage in Centennial Park on July 23rd. The previous venue for the event was damaged by the tornado requiring the event to relocate.
  • Herrema Park Playground Replacement Moves Forward
    Council approved a report featuring a proposed playground design and budget to replace the playground equipment at Herrema Park. The playground will feature play structures suitable for children aged 5-12 years old with a climbing, slide and a motion component as well as swings. The playground will be situated on an accessible rubberized surface. The playground replacement is planned for fall 2022.
