Council highlights - June 27, 2022:

  • Climate Adaptation and Transition Committee Presents Annual Report
    Council heard a deputation from Robert Brown and Fly Freeman who shared their first Annual Report and presentation from the Climate Adaptation and Transition Committee.
  • North House Reports on Poverty and Homelessness in North Durham
    North House presented statistics and facts about poverty and homelessness in North Durham and from Uxbridge specifically. North House advocated for more rental and affordable housing in Uxbridge. Council requested regular reports from North Durham and refer the housing matter to Development Services.
  • Mobile Trailers Possible Short Term Housing for Displaced Residents
    Council supported a request by the Salvation Army in principle to allow displaced residents to live in mobile trailers while repairs are made to homes. Council deferred the matter to Development Services to assess requests on a case by case basis.
  • Residents Make Request to Stop Truck Traffic on Conc. 6th
    Council heard a deputation and received a petition to stop trucks from using the 6th Concession between Goodwood Rd. and Hwy #47. Council directed that the matter be considered as part of the Traffic policy.
  • Township Earmarks Money from Golf Fund to Support Storm Relief
    Council approved a report requesting that some of the money in the Golf Fund Reserve be used to support organizations within the community who are supporting local storm recovery efforts. Council directed the Golf Fund committee report on where any funds were spent.
  • Township to Refine Plans to Support Downtown Improvements
    As part of the Downtown Revitalization Project , staff have proposed new and revised programs to encourage improvements and revitalization downtown. Council agreed to receive a draft report and hold a Public Meeting to receive public input about the program.
