Council highlights for November 7, 2022:

  • Councillor Ruona thanked for his service to the community
    On behalf of Council, the Mayor thanked Councillor Gary Ruona for his service to Township residents. The Mayor presented a plaque and shared that a tree will be planted to recognize Councillor Ruona’s service on Council. Councillor Highet will be similarly recognized.
  • Remembrance Day Ceremony to take place at Cenotaph
    The Royal Canadian Legion will host a ceremony in downtown Uxbridge on Fri. Nov. 11th beginning with the Veterans Parade at 10:30am. Council thanked the organizers for the work they do each year to organize the event.
  • BIA project refurbishes Brock St. Parkette
    A BIA led initiative to create a people friendly space in downtown Uxbridge has resulted in new tables, benches, bike racks and space improvements to the downtown parkette. The improvements were funded by a Tourism grant.
  • Herrema playground project underway
    The playground at the Herrema Park has been removed and new playground equipment is being installed.
  • Township supports local toy drive
    Based upon a request from organizers, Council approved the use of a vacant township building at 23 Brock St. for the annual toy drive.
  • Council seeks more information about proposed Greenbelt legislation
    Council requested that staff prepare a briefing related to correspondence about the proposed amendments to the Greenbelt Plan.
  • Holiday tourism program coming to downtown Uxbridge
    Council supported the proposals in a Tourism Report to host the Holiday Trail on Dec. 9th and 10th . The program is designed to encourage local tourists to visit downtown shops and restaurants in conjunction with other tourism events.
