The Uxbridge Downtown Revitalization project moves into the implementation stage thanks to continued funding support from the Province, the Region, the Township and the BIA.

On Friday, April 7th, MPP Peter Bethlenfalvy announced that the Township will receive $22,500 in funding through Ontario’s Rural Economic Development Program to support downtown revitalization. Region Chair John Henry announced the Region’s $10,000 support for the project through Invest Durham and Mayor Barton announced that the Township is investing $11,500 and the BIA will invest an additional $1,000.

The combined $45,000 in funding was awarded to update the Township’s Downtown Community Improvement Plan to encourage investment in and redevelopment of downtown properties. The Township will work with a Registered Professional Planner to review the current Downtown Community Improvement Plan (CIP) including public consultation. The final project will result in a program targeted at eligible downtown building/property owners to encourage improvement and redevelopment.

The project is now underway and is expected to be implemented in the fall of 2022.
