The Region of Durham will observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation at a march to honour residential school survivors on September 22 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The march will begin at the Pathway to Reconciliation Crosswalk, located near the south entrance of Durham Regional Headquarters in Whitby (605 Rossland Road East), and continue along Rossland Road to Fallingbrook Park before returning to Durham Regional Headquarters. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion division of the Regional Municipality of Durham is hosting the memorial march.

Committing to reconciliation involves creating genuine and meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities. It is only when we take steps to embrace reconciliation in our hearts, minds and actions that we can truly create spaces for healing and understanding.

Media are invited to attend. Please RSVP by emailing Corporate Communications by September 20 at 3 p.m.
