Municipal Storm Update

On May 21st, an EF-2 Tornado touched down in Uxbridge leaving behind extensive damage. The Township declared a State of Emergency on May 21st and rescinded it on June 27th, 2022.

Durham Region Social Services satellite office is open at 2 Campbell Dr., Uxbridge Mondays and Thursdays each week from 8:30-4:30pm. Drop-in appointments are welcome. Various resources are available including family counselling.

Aid for Residents
The Province of Ontario has activated the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians (DRAO) program for Township of Uxbridge residents who qualify. The deadline for application is no later than Monday Oct. 17th, 2022. Learn more about the program at www.Ontario.ca/disasterassistance.

Disposal of Waste

The Township continues to pick up tree debris from the storm. Effective June 13th, any tree debris placed at the curb after crews have completed pick-up on a given street will not be removed by the Township. The Township has completed in-town pick-up. Crews are now picking up debris on hamlet streets. Please be patient, crews will get to all hamlet streets with the exception of those in private condo corporations and on unassumed roads.

The Region of Durham will accept bundled tree branches and bagged tree debris as part of their regular yard waste pick-up.
