Pride Month Kicks Off in Uxbridge

June is Pride Month and the Township of Uxbridge is honoured to be participating in the first-ever rainbow banners project presented by Pflag Durham Region. The Township is hanging pride banners in key downtown locations to raise visibility for 2SLGBTQI communities. The banners will be installed in June and remain up for the summer. The banners, provided by Pflag Durham, include the Progress Pride flag as the backdrop with slogans that commemorate and embody the spirit of Pride month. 

The banners provide positive and healthy affirmation to those within the 2SLGBTQI community, along with supporters and allies, and demonstrate the Township is a supportive and accepting community.  

Pflag Durham Region started this project to encourage support in the rural areas of North Durham. Pflag Durham Region supports and advocates for those within the 2SLGBTQI community and their support system and provides education and resources to help encourage inclusion, diversity, and equity.
