The Township of Uxbridge hosted a virtual Open House to share information about planned improvements to Elgin Park which are scheduled to start in the fall of 2022. The virtual meeting took place on June 9th.

The Township of Uxbridge proposed six projects for Elgin Park and wished to hear from Elgin Park user groups and interested residents about the plans. Feedback from the public will be used to finalize the design plans prior to planning construction.

The largest part of the proposal is the construction of the Uxbridge Lions Club Accessible Playground. This fully accessible play structure will accommodate people with all abilities. More information about the playground is available at Playground Project | UxbridgeLionsClub. The Lions Club is actively fundraising for this project.

The Township also plans to winterize the stand-alone washrooms adjacent to the playground. The current washrooms are closed in the fall and winter. Winterizing the washrooms will support visitors who use Elgin Park and community trails all year round and will support other community activities such as the Optimist Fantasy of Lights experience.

The Township proposes to construca new pavilion in the area close to the t-ball diamond and will function as an additional shaded picnic area for individuals to enjoy and as an additional focal point for events hosted at Elgin Park

To improve visibility, new pathway lighting will be installed on paved pathways throughout the park out towards Elgin Park Drive. A new entrance way will be built connecting Elgin Park to the main entrance from Joseph St.

The Township is also proposing a Path of Inclusion. This path will be situated in the heart of the park and will feature flag poles to display flags representing diversity, healing and awareness throughout the year
