The Township has moved to an on-line application system. As part of that transition, we now require documentation to be uploaded electronically prior to your appointment.
The Township of Uxbridge can issue marriage licences and conduct civil marriage ceremonies. Please read the marriage licence application information document to ensure you have all appropriate documentation required to obtain a licence.
On-line Application System
To serve you better, the Township of Uxbridge has implemented an on-line application system. This makes it easier for you to apply for your marriage licence.
The online system offers benefits including:
- Approval of identification and documentation prior to appointment
- Avoiding the need for follow-up appointments
- Allowing applicants the ability to apply anywhere, anytime
On-line Applications - What has Changed as a Result of the New System?
Township staff have transitioned from the traditional paper-based applications to a digital process. Applicants must complete forms on-line and upload documentation electronically via the Service Ontario website. Applicants are still required to book an in-person appointment at the Township Office to sign and pay for their Licence. Please speak to staff if you have any concerns about this process.

COVID-19 information regarding validity of licences
Please note the information regarding the validity of marriage licenses:
- Licences issued between January 1, 2021 and June 4, 2021 are still valid and can be used until June 4, 2023.
Note: the validity period for marriage licences issued between July 25, 2020 and September 30, 2020 has not been extended. These licences were only valid for three months from the date issued since there was no province-wide emergency during this timeframe. If, for any reason, couples did not use their licence issued during this timeframe and still wish to be married, they will need to purchase another one.
