Council Highlights - January 9, 2023

• 2021 Census Population Indigenous and Housing Information Released
  Council received a Census Population - Indigenous Peoples and Housing Portrait  report from Durham Region. Council noted the difference in housing numbers between Scugog and Uxbridge and requested a review of the OMPF funding formula to ensure the Township of Uxbridge is receiving an equitable share of funding. 
• Growth Plan Predicts 100,000 new Residents in Durham Region in 5 Years
  Council received a Report on Growth Trends from Durham Region.
• Council Receives Region of Durham Response to Greenbelt Plan
  A response from the Region of Durham to the Province’s Greenbelt Plan was received by Council.
• Regional Economic Development and Tourism Action Plan Unveiled
  Council received a Report outlining a 5-year Economic Development and Strategy and Action Plan. The Action plan will help guide local economic development and tourism strategies. A delegation speaking to Economic Development is planned for a future Council meeting.
• Township Unveils List of 2022 Accomplishments
  A staff report lists the many accomplishments from 2022. Council thanked staff for their efforts during a year that also included ongoing COVID implications and a Tornado Emergency Response.
