The annual Huck Finn Fishing event for youth is now an 8-day festival!

April 22nd-29th, 2023 at Elgin Pond in Uxbridge

Families will now be able to fish at Elgin Pond at their leisure between Saturday April 22nd and Saturday April29th. Daily prizes to be won by submitting pictures on social media of you and your family fishing, of your catch, or of fun around the pond etc. with the hashtag #huckfinnUxbridge. Participants 15 years of age and under will be eligible for daily prizes! Random draws for prizes from submitted pictures to be made by Hits105.5fm radio. REGISTRATION NOT REQUIRED!

Event Guidelines:

  • Participants under the age of 18 or over the age of 65 do not require an outdoors card or fishing licence. All others require a licence. Learn more about getting an Outdoors Card or a Fishing licence.
  • Participants must follow catch and possession limits.
  • Fishing may only be done in season.
  • The road will not be closed for this festival. Please use caution crossing the street.
  • Children must be supervised.
  • There is no smoking or vaping of any substance in Township parks or on Township property.
  • Cars illegally parked will be ticketed.

Photo Contest Rules:

  • The contest is open to youth age 15 or younger, and who must be visible in the photo. The photo may be taken and submitted by an adult.  The photo can also include people older than 15 but will only be considered for a prize when youth are present.
  • Photographs must be taken between April 22nd at 9:00am and April 29th, 2023 at 5pm. Photos submitted after 5pm will not be eligible for entry.
  • Photographs must be taken at Elgin Pond or vicinity and do not have to include fish.
  • To enter contest, photos must be posted to social media using the hashtag #huckfinnUxbridge. If you wish to submit a photo for the contest privately you may email it to angela@1055hitsfm.com. No purchase is necessary to enter the contest.
  • A winning photo will be chosen daily by random from submitted photos. Hits 105.5fm will randomly select and announce the winner daily. Once a photo has won, it will be removed from the pool of future candidates.
  • By participating in this contest and posting to the #huckfinnUxbridge hashtag, each entrant agrees to provide the Township of Uxbridge with the non-exclusive rights to use their images for future use. Participants agree to the terms and conditions outlined in this contest.
  • Any entry that displays symbols of hate, inappropriate language, offensive or abusive comments, or any behaviour that contravenes the spirit and objectives of the Township’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) blueprint, is strictly prohibited. Entries displaying this type of behaviour will be immediately reported and disqualified from the Contest.
  • The daily prize must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable, redeemable, refundable, or exchangeable for cash and not replaceable if lost/stolen.
  • Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received and will change daily.
  • By accepting the Contest prize, the winner: (a) confirms compliance with these Contest rules; (b) acknowledges that the prize is not transferable and must be accepted as awarded or otherwise except where stated; (c) consents to the use of his/her name, entry, voice, statements, photographs, pictures and/or other likenesses for publicity, advertising or informational purposes in any medium or format carried out by the Township and/or advertising/news agencies regarding the Contest or the prize, without further notice or compensation; and (d) releases the Township, its affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies, the suppliers of materials or services related to the Contest, and all of its elected and appointed officials, employees, and agents (collectively the “Releasees”) from and against all liability in connection with the Contest and/or the awarding and/or use of the Contest prize.
  • This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations.  All entries submitted become the property of the Township of Uxbridge, which assumes no responsibility for lost, delayed, incomplete, or misdirected entry. 
  • The Township reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend this Contest or to amend the Contest rules at any time and in any way, without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever.  Without limiting the foregoing, if for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, for example as a result of tampering or infection by computer virus, bug, corruption, security breach, or other cause beyond the Township’s reasonable control, the Township reserves the right to cancel or suspend the Contest.
