Due to COVID-19, fire permits can only be purchased in person at the Fire Station (301 Brock St. W, Uxbridge) Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm. Unfortunately, we cannot process debit or credit card payment at this time. Please use cheque or exact cash.

Open air burning in the Township of Uxbridge is regulated through the Fire By-law. We issue the following burn permits:

  • Open Air Fire Permit
  • Oversize Fire Permit (can only be purchased at the Fire Hall, 301 Brock St. West Uxbridge)
  • Recreational Fire Permit

Permits can be purchased during regular business hours at Township Hall, 51 Toronto St. South Uxbridge.

Open air fire permit

An Open Air Fire Permit Application can be filled out and submitted by visiting Township Hall, located at 51 Toronto St. S. Uxbridge and/or the Uxbridge Fire Station, located at 301 Brock St. West Uxbridge, both locations during regular business hours. An open air fire permit costs:

  • $30 for a regular open air fire permit
  • $30 for a farm open air fire permit

Before burning, you must call the Fire Department's 'Burn Line' at 905-852-9038 in order to get permission to start an open air burn.

Regulations

Open air fires must meet the following regulations:

  • The fire shall not exceed 1.5 m in diameter
  • Two people must be present throughout the burn
  • All fires must be extinguished before sunset

You must have a copy of the fire permit on site

Oversized fire permit

Oversized fire permits can only be obtained by contacting the Fire Department. Before the permit can be issued, the Fire Prevention Officer will need to inspect the site. An oversized fire permit costs:

  • $100 for standard oversized fires
  • $50 with a Farm Business Registration Number

Before burning, you must call the Fire Department at 905-852-9038 in order to get permission to start an open air burn.

Regulations

Oversized fires must meet the following regulations:

  • Are larger than 1.5 m in diameter
  • A loader or back-hoe must be present to extinguish the fire or prevent the spread of fire if necessary
  • You must have a copy of the fire permit on site

Recreational fire permit

A Recreational Fire Permit Application can be filled out and submitted by visiting Township Hall, located at 51 Toronto St. S. Uxbridge and/or the Uxbridge Fire Station, located at 301 Brock St. West Uxbridge, both locations during regular business hours.  A recreational fire permit costs $5 for family recreational use and annual recreational campsite fires.

Regulations

Recreational fires must meet the following regulations:

  • You can burn wood, twigs and charcoal
  • Recreational fires will not exceed .75 m in diameter
  • Two people must attend the fire at all times
  • Recreational fires are permitted after sunset
