Redevelopment of the Uxbridge Hospital will begin in late fall 2024. During hospital construction, the helipad supporting Ornge Air Ambulance will be relocated to provide a safe location to land air-ambulances. The hospital itself will remain operational during all phases of construction.

The hospital will build a temporary helipad at Fields of Uxbridge starting in the fall of 2024. Land ambulances will meet air-ambulance at the Fields of Uxbridge to transfer patients from Uxbridge to other hospitals providing specialized emergency services. On average, approximately 20 landings are expected per year.

The helipad will be located in the Fields of Uxbridge in an unused location on the southern side of property near the parking lot. See diagram below. The landing site will be fenced for safety. A patient transfer team from the hospital will be at the site in advance of any helicopter landings to unlock gates, secure the site and ensure safety for all involved.

The newly rebuilt hospital will have a helipad on the roof and the temporary helipad at the Fields of Uxbridge will be removed and the space will revert to being used by the Township to support passive and active recreation opportunities for residents.

The hospital is being redeveloped to replace the current aging facility. The new hospital adds more patient beds and expands key services such as ambulatory care and diagnostic imaging – making it easier for families to continue receiving high-quality care, closer to home.
