The Township of Uxbridge is pleased to announce that Council has approved the retention of the King Street Parkette as a public greenspace. This decision was guided by a combination of strong community advocacy for the preservation of the land and challenges related to servicing allocations, which impacted the potential sale value of the property.
Council has approved a plan to transform the parkette into a sustainable and inviting green space. The greenspace will continue to feature outdoor seating and garbage receptacles, along with regular grass cutting and landscaping throughout the active park season. These efforts will continue to create a welcoming environment where residents can gather, relax in an outdoor setting, and enjoy the natural surroundings.
In addition, a proposal to establish the next mini forest at this location presents an opportunity to revitalize the underutilized area and give it a renewed purpose. Further details about the location of the next mini forest will be shared as they become available.
The Township is confident that this decision aligns with the community’s desires while advancing its commitment to maintaining functional public spaces that meet the needs of residents.
