Township Official Plan Review Notice of Public Workshop and Open Houses

“Envisioning Our Uxbridge”

“Envisioning Our Uxbridge” will shape and consolidate the former Regional Official Plan and the Township Official Plan into a single document. The approach to the Township Official Plan Review (OPR) will update the vision and planning framework in the official plan to ensure the achievement of the best quality of life for the community, both socially and economically, while accommodating the anticipated growth in the Township.

Have Your Say! The Township of Uxbridge is holding four public sessions as part of the review of its Official Plan – “Envisioning Our Uxbridge”.  This will include a Vision Workshop, and three separate open houses with respect to issues related to the Uxbridge Urban Area, Rural Area, and Hamlets. Members of the community are invited to attend as many of the sessions that are of interest and/or provide input in writing.

Where? The public sessions will be held in the Council Chambers at Town Hall (51 Toronto Street, Uxbridge, ON) as follows:

  • Vision Workshop: Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 7:00 pm 
A working session to review the current Township Official Plan Vision, Strategic Directions, Goals and Objectives and establish if they are still relevant or if they should be updated to better reflect the Township’s long-term vision for the future.
  • Rural Area Open House: Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 4:00 pm to 6:00pm
An open house to provide information and an opportunity for public input related to issues identified to date for consideration through the OPR, or other matters of concern.  The issues identified include agricultural-related and on-farm diversified uses, additional dwelling units (ADUs), rural employment areas and heritage conservation.
  • Hamlet Open House: Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
An open house to provide information and an opportunity for public input related to each of the hamlets in the Township with respect to the current policy context and future plans for each hamlet and other matters of concern recognizing the applicable Provincial policy framework provided by the Oak Ridges Moraine Plan and the Greenbelt Plan.
  • Urban Area Open House: Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 7:00 pm
An open house to provide information and an opportunity for public input related to issues identified to date for consideration through the OPR, or other matters of concern. The issues identified include ADUs; parkland; employment areas; heritage conservation; and implications of the Regional Official Plan with respect to Downtown area.

Any person may participate in the public workshop or public open houses and/or make a written submission in electronic or hard copy with respect to the OPR.  Materials provided at the workshop and public open house will be posted on the Township website in advance of the sessions. Any written submission, either in hard copy or in electronic format, should be forwarded to the Development Services Department for receipt by December 1, 2025 to ensure consideration as part of the preparation of the draft official plan.

If you wish to be notified of the decision of the Township of Uxbridge on any changes to the official plan resulting from the review, you must make a written request to the Township at the contact information found below in order to be added to the interested party list.
