Safety Improvements Set to Begin in Goodwood

Various safety improvements for the Goodwood community are set to roll out over the next four years, with some projects set to begin in the fall of 2023.

The following are the planned improvements for the Goodwood area:

• Installation of a roundabout at Goodwood Rd. and Brock Rd. in Coppin’s Corners. This project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2027/2028. Roundabouts maximize safety and minimize delay, while reducing emissions and fuel consumption.

Local Road Closures in Effect June 25th for Run for the Diamond

Please be advised that local road closures are in effect on Sunday, June 25th for the Run for the Diamond event in support of the local hospital.

Beginning at 7:30am, DRPS will be on site to manage local road closures in the vicinity of Elgin Park until approximately 10am. Road closures include:

• Conc. 7, between Goodwood Rd. to Main St. S. at Reach St.
• Elgin Park Dr., between Toronto St. S. and Conc. 7
• Brookdale Rd., between Conc. 7 to Foxfire Chase
• Wagg Rd., between Conc. 7 to Conc. 6

Sign for New Animal Shelter Removed - Commitment to Project Remains – June 22, 2023

Construction work to install fibre optic cable has necessitated the removal of a sign erected to promote the site of the New Animal Shelter of Uxbridge and Scugog (NASUS) on Lakeridge Rd. While the sign has come down, the commitment to complete the project by both the Township of Uxbridge and the Township of Scugog remains strong.

Roadway line painting operations are now underway

The Regional Municipality of Durham would like to advise residents that roadway line painting is now underway on all Regional roads and many municipal roads, weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. until November. Drivers are asked to exercise caution when approaching these vehicles. Before heading out on the road, residents can follow line painting operations in real time using live traffic and navigation apps.

Join the Canada Day Celebrations at Elgin Park on July 1st

The Township of Uxbridge will celebrate Canada Day on July 1st in Elgin Park. The event will include fun family activities, facepainting, food trucks and the evening will be capped off with fireworks at dusk. The evening fireworks display offers the flexibility of being able to spend the day with family and friends celebrating however desired while still being offered a great way to finish off the day with a bang!
