Township Announces Press Conference Regarding Culvert Project

The Township of Uxbridge will host a press conference on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Township Municipal Office (51 Toronto Street South) to present and discuss the Culvert Construction Project.

Ice Testing Underway at Elgin Pond 2026

Elgin Pond has frozen due to recent cold weather and testing of ice thickness has begun. Elgin Pond will officially open for skating when the ice thickness has reached between 8 and10 inches. Ice thickness is monitored and reported by using a system of flags.

Improved weather conditions have aided Township Road maintenance crews as they work to clear roads, sidewalks and parking lots. As a result, the Township is lifting the advisory of a Significant Weather Event that was declared on December 28th, 2025.

Township Extends Significant Weather Event Due to High Winds – December 30, 2025

Due to high winds, the Township advises residents that roads may be snow-covered and slippery, with periods of reduced visibility.

With fresh snowfall and wind gusts reaching up to 45 km/h, road conditions in open areas have deteriorated rapidly.

As of 2:00 p.m. today, police are advising drivers to avoid Lake Ridge Road near Scugog Line 12 due to extremely poor visibility and drifting snow.

Drifting snow is also rapidly worsening across other open rural roads.
