Heat Warning Issued for Uxbridge and Northern Durham Region August 9 - 12

Environment Canada issued a heat warning from August 9th to the 12th for the Township of Uxbridge and the surrounding area. A humid airmass has reached the region. Daytime maximum temperatures are expected to range from 30 to 33 degrees Celsius with humidex values of 35 to 40.

Residents seeking relief from the heat may visit Town Hall in Uxbridge between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. Uxbridge Library is also offering relief from the heat during regular business hours. Please see Contact...

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents and businesses in Beaverton, Cannington, Sunderland, Uxbridge, Port Perry, Orono, Blackstock and Greenbank of mandatory water restrictions during the extreme hot weather. Residents and businesses are required to discontinue all non-essential water use during this time.  

When: Effective immediately until further notice.

Following recent restoration work and in recognition of its long-standing significance in the community, the Township of Uxbridge has nominated the Uxbridge Public Library Clock in Municipal World’s Great Canadian Landmark Contest.

The Uxbridge Public Library, built in 1887 and funded by Uxbridge-born businessman and politician Joseph Gould, is one of the community’s most historic and well-known landmarks. It continues to serve residents and stands as a symbol of Uxbridge’s heritage and identity.
