Community Supports First Uxbridge Mini-Forest Project

On Saturday July 6th, 85 dedicated volunteers gathered at the Fields of Uxbridge to lend their time and efforts to the Uxbridge Mini-Forest project.
The first phase of the Mini-Forest project was to prepare the site and soil for future planting. Volunteers put down 2800 sq. ft. of wet cardboard before layering 25 yards of compost on top. Free Family fun featuring A Nod to Maud
2024 is the 150th anniversary of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s birth and Downtown Uxbridge is celebrating with a free Summer Social event. Visit historical Downtown Uxbridge on July 21 between 11am-2pm and join the celebrations. The theme for the Year of Maud is Hats, Cats & Flowers. Diapers, menstrual products, incontinence products, pet waste and pet litter can now be disposed of in the Green Bin for weekly curbside collection.
The revised program is designed to maximize waste diversion, minimize the waste being processed at the Durham York Energy Centre, increase convenience, and achieve compliance with Ontario’s Food and Organic Waste Policy Statement.
