The Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter Receives Another Major Donation!

The Councils of Uxbridge and Scugog joined staff from the Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter on July 12th to announce a significant donation supporting the new animal shelter project.

The Estate of Marlyn Ruth Rennie has contributed an additional $84,579, bringing her total donations to $1,100,674 since the fall of 2023. These generous contributions directly support the development of the new animal shelter.

Drivers reminded to leave one metre of space when passing or driving alongside cyclists

Whitby, Ontario – A little space makes a big difference. Durham Region reminds drivers to leave at least one metre of space between their vehicle and bicycles on the road to help improve safety for all road users. Through Durham Vision Zero, we work with road safety partners to create safer roads and reduce collisions, road fatalities and injuries with the goal of zero people killed or injured on Durham roads.

Heat Warning & Fire Ban Issued for Uxbridge

Environment Canada issued a heat warning commencing July 11th – 16th for the Township of Uxbridge and the surrounding area. Daytime maximum temperatures are expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius with humidex values near 40.

Due to extreme heat and dry weather, the Township of Uxbridge has imposed a fire ban on all open-air burning effectively immediately. Open flames at this time risk causing serious damage to property and the environment.  

No new fire permits will be issued until the ban is lifted.

The Township of Uxbridge and the Uxbridge Fall Fair want to see your best photos taken in Uxbridge Urban Provincial Park! Visit Uxbridge Urban Provincial Park between now and September 4th, take a photo and submit it to the Fall Fair photo competition for a chance to win a great prize.
