September is Hunger Action Month- Township of Uxbridge Encourages Foodbank Donations

Drop off non-perishable foods now through September 28 or donate online

Uxbridge and surrounding Durham Region municipalities are once again coming together this September for National Hunger Action Month to help raise awareness, food donations, and funds to fight hunger in the community and across Durham Region.

The demand for services from local food banks has never been higher. Residents are encouraged to make donations to the local foodbank at Zehrs, Pharmasave and the Trail Capital Pharmacy....

Township of Uxbridge Mourns Loss of Former Regional Councillor Susan Self

The Township of Uxbridge extends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Susan Self on her passing. Mrs. Self left a legacy of public service and volunteering in her community. Mrs. Self was a Councillor for the Township of Uxbridge from 1989 to 1991 and served as the Township’s Regional Councillor from 1992 until 2006. Township of Uxbridge Proclaims September 18-24th as Rail Safety Week

Held annually, Rail Safety week (September 18-24) promotes awareness about rail safety and the risks of trespassing and not obeying signs and signals at crossings.  

In 2022 there were 66 avoidable deaths and 43 serious injuries as a result of railway- crossing and trespassing incidents.  

Tips to 'Be Rail Smart':

  • Stop a safe distance from tracks and crossings
  • Look both ways to ensure trains are not approaching
  • Listen for approaching trains
