Recycle your batteries during the week of November 6

The Regional Municipality of Durham is reminding residents to place their used or unwanted household batteries out for recycling on their blue box collection day, during the week of November 6 to 10 .

Batteries are not garbage – up to 92 per cent of battery components are recyclable and recoverable. By taking part in the battery collection program, you can help eliminate mercury, cadmium and other heavy metals from entering the environment.

Major Donation May Bring New Life To Animal Shelter

The Townships of Scugog and Uxbridge are very pleased to announce that the Estate of Marlyn Ruth Rennie has made an extremely generous donation of $1,100,674 to the Uxbridge-Scugog Animal Shelter.

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of impacts to Regional programs and services on September 29 and 30 in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Harold Bell Memorial Park Baseball Diamond Upgrades Underway

Construction at Harold Bell Memorial Park’s baseball diamond commenced this week and will continue for the next 5-6 weeks. A construction fence has been set up surrounding the diamond and will remain in place until renovations conclude. 

The construction will provide various upgrades to the diamond, including the installation of a new backstop fence and overhang, new line fence and covered dugout, and new player benches and four poles.

The park remains open during construction.
