Township Reminds Residents of Precautions as Potential Avian Flu Season Approaches

As geese and migratory birds begin to return to the community, the Township of Uxbridge reminds residents of general precautions ahead of a possible upcoming avian flu season. At this time, there have been no confirmed cases of avian influenza (H5N1), also known as bird flu, in the community, in 2025.

Although there is no cause for concern, the Township encourages residents to be proactive and follow basic precautions to help prevent the potential spread of avian flu as the season progresses.

Mayor Dave Barton, in collaboration with Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt will host a Tariff Town Hall on March 27 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The event will be held virtually and in-person at the Township of Uxbridge’s Town Hall. Township Lifts Significant Weather Event Advisory, Mar. 10th, 2025

Improved weather conditions have aided Township Road maintenance crews as they work to clear roads, sidewalks and parking lots. As a result, the Township is lifting the advisory of a Significant Weather Event that was declared on March 6th, 2025.

Drivers and pedestrians are still urged to be cautious as there are localized accumulations of melt water and the potential for icy conditions. Please drive according to the road conditions. ​
