Cooling Centres Open to the Public

With soaring temperatures, the Township of Uxbridge would like to advise residents to stay hydrated, avoid over-exertion and to monitor the well-being of at-risk individuals such as young children, the elderly or those who have compromised health. 

The Township has opened various facilities as cooling centres and residents are invited to visit any of the following facilities:

Township of Uxbridge Bans All Open-Air Fires - June 23, 2025

Decision helps streamline Emergency Response Services during Heat Wave.

Effective immediately, the Township of Uxbridge has imposed a fire ban on all open-air burning.

Due to extreme heat and dry weather, the Uxbridge Fire Department has placed a fire ban on the Township of Uxbridge. Open flames at this time risk causing serious damage to property and environment.

No new fire permits will be issued until the ban is lifted.

Whitby, Ontario – Forecasted temperatures for this upcoming weekend are expected to meet the criteria for a heat warning in both north and south Durham Region. This is the first heat event of 2025 under Durham Region Health Department’s seasonal Heat Warning and Information System.
